Jaguar has revealed the Type 00 concept car at Miami Art Week, offering a bold preview of its upcoming electric vehicle (EV) lineup. The concept, described as an “unmistakable, unexpected and dramatic physical manifestation of Jaguar,” signals a shift in the brand’s design philosophy as it transitions to an all-electric future.

The Type 00 serves as a precursor to Jaguar’s first production EV, a four-door GT set to debut in late 2025. Based on the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform, the production model is expected to deliver a WLTP range of up to 770 kilometers (478 miles) and support rapid charging, recharging 321 kilometers (200 miles) in just 15 minutes at a 350 kW station. The anticipated battery capacity is estimated between 110 and 120 kWh to achieve the stated range.

Jaguar’s radical design direction is accompanied by a repositioning of the brand into the luxury EV market. Adrian Mardell, CEO of parent company JLR, emphasized the legacy of Jaguar, saying, “The magic of Jaguar is close to my heart – an original British luxury brand unmatched in its heritage, artistry, and emotional magnetism.” He added, “We will create the same sense of awe that surrounded iconic models like the E-type.”

While technical details remain limited, the Type 00 concept highlights Jaguar’s commitment to a “copy nothing” ethos. The design features a dramatic, long bonnet and a steep front section, which prioritizes aesthetic appeal over aerodynamics. The concept’s unconventional design echoes the styling cues of classic state limousines and ultra-luxury vehicles.

Jaguar’s appearance at Miami Art Week reflects its strategic focus on art and creativity as touchpoints for engaging with its future clientele. “Our presence at Miami Art Week emphasizes Jaguar’s purpose as an advocate for art and creativity in all its forms,” said Rawdon Glover, Managing Director of Jaguar.

As the Type 00 paves the way for Jaguar’s new EV lineup, its polarizing design and ambitious targets suggest a bold reimagining of the brand’s identity and its place in the luxury automotive market.
