Italian bus manufacturer Iveco Bus has clinched a substantial order for 140 electric buses from Dutch public transport operator Qbuzz. The order encompasses two distinct models, set to be deployed in the province of South Holland starting from late 2024.

Under the agreement, Qbuzz will integrate 102 units of the Iveco Crossway Low Entry Elec and 38 Iveco E-Way vehicles into its fleet. These buses, with lengths of 10.7 and 12 meters respectively, are slated to commence operations in the Zuid-Holland Noord (ZHN) concession area from December 2024. Zuid-Holland encompasses the region around Rotterdam and The Hague, with the northern part bordering the province of Noord-Holland, which includes Amsterdam, and encompasses cities like Leiden, Alphen, and Gouda.

While specific route details are yet to be disclosed, Qbuzz’s familiarity with Iveco Bus is noteworthy, as the company already operates a fleet of electric articulated Iveco buses in the Groningen-Drenthe region and in Utrecht.

The decision to opt for Iveco Bus was based on a combination of factors, as highlighted by Gerrit Spijksma, CEO of Qbuzz. Spijksma mentioned, “In addition to our good experiences with IVECO BUS, the company came out with the best combination between price and quality, and that was the deciding factor for us.”
