Indian charge point operator ChargET has inaugurated a major electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Kolkata, enabling up to 60 vehicles to charge simultaneously. Located at the headquarters of India Power Corporation in Salt Lake City’s Sector V, the facility marks a significant expansion of EV infrastructure in eastern India.
The charging station includes 54 AC charging points equipped with Type 2 connectors and six DC fast chargers with CCS connectors, according to ChargET’s founder and director Manya Kanoria. “The site has been designed to cater to both daily EV users and fleet operators with a mix of fast and slow charging options,” Kanoria told.

The AC chargers operate at 7.2 kW, while the DC chargers include two dual-gun 30 kW units and one 60 kW dual-gun unit. All chargers are domestically manufactured in alignment with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. AC units were sourced from Pune-based BrightBlu, while Okaya EV Chargers and Siemens supplied the DC units.
Currently, the site relies entirely on grid electricity, but the company plans to integrate solar power within six months. The initial installation will generate 60 kW of clean energy, with potential for expansion. “This transition to renewables is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 694 tonnes annually in the first phase,” said Kanoria.

ChargET operates over 70 chargers across West Bengal, Tripura, and other eastern states. Looking ahead, the company aims to expand into northern and southern India, with target cities including New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai. “Our goal is to scale our network to 10,000 EV chargers by 2030,” Kanoria added.
