IM Motors, the electric vehicle division of China’s SAIC Motor Corp, has released an updated version of its LS7 electric SUV as competition in the sector heats up, with Xiaomi preparing to unveil its first sport utility vehicle later this month.
The latest IM LS7 is now available in a single “Ultra” variant, priced at RMB 339,900 ($47,310). For buyers placing orders by July 31, a limited-time discount brings the price down to RMB 329,900. Customers are also eligible for up to RMB 42,400 in free configuration upgrades and RMB 3,000 off on exterior color options.

The updated LS7 is built on an 800-volt platform and includes a four-wheel steering system for improved maneuverability. It features an all-wheel-drive dual-motor setup—200 kW in front and 379 kW in the rear—allowing the vehicle to reach 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 239 km/h.
The SUV is powered by a 100 kWh ternary lithium battery, offering a CLTC-rated range of 700 kilometers. Fast-charging capabilities allow the battery to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in just 16.8 minutes. The updated model is also slightly taller than its predecessor, now standing at 1,784 mm.

In terms of technology, the vehicle runs on IMOS 3.6.0, which incorporates DeepSeek’s large language model to enhance the user interface and voice recognition capabilities.
The launch comes as smartphone giant Xiaomi prepares to enter the electric SUV space, following the success of its SU7 sedan. Xiaomi’s new YU7 SUV is expected to launch later this month and has been positioned as a major milestone for the company’s automotive ambitions.
