Portuguese charging station manufacturer i-charging has announced an upgrade to its Blueberry Cluster and Blueberry Plus charging stations, increasing the maximum charging power from 600 kW to 900 kW. The upgraded stations allow dynamic power sharing among up to four vehicles charging simultaneously and are already available for deployment.

In a statement, i-charging explained that both versions of the Blueberry family can now be configured with up to 900 kW total power in 50 kW increments. The Blueberry Plus enables parallel charging for two vehicles, dynamically sharing the power, while the Blueberry Cluster can distribute power among up to four EVs. Each charging point can deliver a maximum of 500 amps, allowing for up to 500 kW of power output when only one vehicle is charging.

The company highlighted the suitability of the Blueberry Cluster, with a minimum of 800 kW, for the German market, as it meets the country’s 200 kW minimum requirement and allows any output to reach up to 500 A output current, in line with German grid requirements. The Blueberry Plus, with a minimum of 400 kW, also meets these requirements. Both devices are Plug&Charge-capable, have necessary calibration law certifications (Module B and Module D), and offer direct payment by bank card, among other features.

Pedro Moreira da Silva, CEO of i-charging, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation in EV charging technology, stating, “By anticipating market needs and pushing the boundaries of innovation, we continue reinforcing our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that redefine the EV charging experience.” He added, “The boost of the blueberry with 900 kW demonstrates our commitment to our mission to make EV charging faster, more convenient, and more accessible than ever before.”

Founded in 2019 and based in Porto, i-charging launched its first range of fast-charging stations in autumn 2020, offering capacities from 50 to 600 kW. The Blueberry charging stations, which are DC-only, feature a 32-inch touchscreen that controls the entire operation of the charging station and can generate additional revenue for charge point operators through advertising.
