Hyundai has given its 2024 Ioniq 5 electric car a mid-life facelift, introducing a range of updates including a larger battery pack, styling changes, and improved technology.

Originally unveiled in February 2021, the Ioniq 5 line-up is now three years old and is receiving its first major update. The new model also introduces a sportier N Line version, drawing design cues from the high-performance Ioniq 5 N.

Key upgrades include a higher-capacity battery pack for the long-range version, now at 84kWh compared to the previous 77.4kWh. This upgrade is shared with the Ioniq 5 N and utilizes next-generation battery cells that are more energy-dense. While Hyundai has stated that this increase “increases … all-electric range,” specific range figures have not been provided.

The restyled front and rear bumpers extend the overall length of the Ioniq 5 by 20mm to 4655mm. The rear spoiler has also been extended by 50mm for improved aerodynamics, and new aero-efficient alloy wheel designs have been introduced.

Other updates include a new steering wheel with ‘interactive pixel lights’, improved arrangement of infotainment and air conditioning controls for enhanced convenience, and a stiffer body to reduce noise and vibrations.
