Hyundai has officially introduced the forthcoming 2025 IONIQ 5 N, a high-performance electrified sports vehicle, during the AutoMobility LA event. Representing the initial foray into electrification for the Hyundai N brand, the IONIQ 5 N is built on the Hyundai E-GMP platform and serves as a precursor to forthcoming electrified N models.

Expected to hit Hyundai dealerships in March 2024, the IONIQ 5 N boasts electric motors capable of reaching an impressive 21,000 RPM, delivering an estimated 641 horsepower (478 kW). A notable feature is the N Pedal, a software function developed to address the unique challenges posed by the weight and size of electric powertrains. This technology, applied to the IONIQ 5 N, aims to enhance handling characteristics with instant turn-in behavior and improved throttle sensitivity.

JosĂ© Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, expressed confidence in the IONIQ 5 N, stating, “Hyundai N is a key driver of advanced technology expansion throughout Hyundai.” He highlighted the brand’s ability to push the boundaries of vehicle performance, emphasizing the bold move forward represented by the IONIQ 5 N in terms of electrified performance. Muñoz anticipates positive responses from both existing Hyundai customers and new buyers, emphasizing the vehicle’s exceptional performance and technology.

Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand and Motorsport at Hyundai Motor Company, elaborated on the development process, stating, “IONIQ 5 N was developed to take driving fun to a new level by utilizing the latest technologies available.” Wartenberg emphasized the N brand’s commitment to delivering a signature fun driving experience, irrespective of the power source—be it petrol, electric, or hydrogen. He underscored the meticulous attention paid to customer feedback, with the goal of electrifying the driving passion of Hyundai’s most discerning N-thusiasts.
