Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB has launched the MobED Alliance, a collaborative initiative designed to accelerate the commercialization of its MobED mobile robot platform in South Korea.
The alliance was unveiled during Automation World 2026 in Seoul and brings together component suppliers, robotics solution providers and industry organizations to support the domestic rollout of the robot platform.
Initial partners include automotive component suppliers Hyundai Transys and SL Corporation, robotics firms LS THiRA-UTECH and Kaon Robotics, and the Korea Association of AI Robot Industry. The group plans to develop ten industry-specific modules that can be mounted onto the MobED platform for applications such as outdoor delivery, security patrol and digital signage.
MobED, which received the Best of Innovation award in the Robotics category at CES 2026, is designed to operate in both indoor and outdoor environments. The robot features an automatic self-leveling system that allows it to maintain stability while traveling over uneven terrain.
According to Hyundai Motor Group, the modular design enables businesses and public organizations to integrate specialized payloads depending on the intended application.
Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB, said the alliance represents a shift toward practical deployment of the technology.
“The MobED Alliance is a collaborative framework designed to extend MobED—a technology already validated on the global stage,” Hyun said. “We are moving beyond simple corporate partnerships and entering a stage of concrete commercialisation in Korea through an ecosystem model.”
Through the alliance, Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB plans to supply the MobED platform to both business and government customers as it expands robotics applications in logistics, public services and digital infrastructure.
