Shangjie, the new automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and SAIC Motor, is preparing to launch its first model, the H5 SUV, in September. The model has completed its final major regulatory step and has been included in the latest catalog released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The H5 will be available in two versions: a battery electric vehicle (BEV) with a claimed CLTC range of up to 655 kilometers, and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant with a total range exceeding 1,300 kilometers. Both models will come equipped with Huawei’s ADS 4 driver assistance system, which supports automated functions in driving, parking, and safety scenarios, according to a statement posted on the brand’s Weibo account.

The MIIT catalog includes three product model numbers for the H5 — two for BEV versions and one for the EREV. Public feedback on the catalog is open from July 17 to 23. Approval of the listing marks a key regulatory milestone before commercial sale.
The SUV measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,664 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. It has a curb weight of 1,985 kilograms and supports a top speed of 190 km/h. The BEV variants feature single electric motors with peak outputs of 150 kW and 180 kW, powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) or ternary batteries supplied by CATL. The EREV version integrates a 1.5-liter engine as a range extender and uses an LFP battery pack, also from CATL.

Shangjie is the fifth brand under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), following Aito, Luxeed, Stelato, and Maextro. Huawei executive Richard Yu introduced the new brand in April, outlining plans to release the first model in fall 2025.
While official pricing has not been announced, Chinese media previously reported the starting price for the H5 would be around RMB 150,000 ($20,890), making it the most affordable model in the HIMA lineup.
