Shangjie, the new automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and SAIC Motor (SHA: 600104), has launched pre-sales of its first model, the H5 SUV, at a starting price of 169,800 yuan ($23,740). The vehicle becomes the most affordable model equipped with Huawei’s ADS 4 driving assistance system under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA).
The H5 will officially launch on September 23 and is offered in both battery electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) versions. The SUV measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,664 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm.
The EREV variant comes with a 1.5L range-extending engine and a CLTC battery range of up to 230 km, with a combined range exceeding 1,300 km when fully fueled and charged. The BEV option offers two battery packs—64.6 kWh and 80 kWh—delivering ranges of 535 km and 655 km, respectively.
Equipped with 192-channel LiDAR and 4D millimeter-wave radars, the H5 supports assisted driving across highways, city streets, and rural roads. The SUV is based on SAIC’s Xingyun platform and developed from the Roewe ES39 model. Pre-sale prices, ranging from 169,800 yuan to 209,800 yuan, are lower than the 180,000–230,000 yuan range previously rumored on Chinese social media.
Shangjie becomes the fifth automotive brand under the HIMA umbrella, which also includes Aito from Seres Group, Luxeed from Chery, Stelato from BAIC Group, and Maextro from JAC. The alliance currently has eight models available in the market.
