Stelato, the electric vehicle brand jointly developed by Huawei and Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has launched its new S9T wagon with a starting price of RMB 309,800 ($43,580), below the pre-sale level of RMB 328,000. Deliveries will begin on Sept. 21, the company said.
The S9T is Stelato’s second model after the S9 sedan and will be offered in four versions, including two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models and two battery electric vehicle (BEV) models. Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) said the S9T secured more than 5,000 firm orders within the first hour after Tuesday’s launch event.
The BEV versions use Huawei’s 100-kWh Giant Whale battery pack, with ranges of up to 801 km under the CLTC cycle, and acceleration from 0–100 km/h in as little as 3.95 seconds. The EREV versions, powered by Huawei’s Xuexiao range-extender system, offer a maximum combined range of up to 1,305 km.
The S9T is also among the first vehicles to feature Huawei’s ADS 4 smart driving system, which incorporates multiple LiDAR units and radars. Stelato is part of Huawei’s HIMA umbrella alongside brands including Seres’ Aito, Chery’s Luxeed, JAC’s Maextro, and SAIC’s Shangjie.
Stelato entered the market in August with the S9 sedan, which also starts at RMB 309,800. The new S9T wagon expands its lineup into a segment that has been gaining traction in China, with the company reporting over 20,000 reservations within 24 hours of opening pre-orders in August.
