Horizon Robotics has expanded its collaboration with global automotive supplier ZF through the launch of the coPILOT driver-assistance system, capable of supporting city-level Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) functions for the Chinese market, the company said in a press release on Friday.
The coPILOT system, developed jointly with ZF, will be used by a major domestic automaker and is scheduled to enter mass production in 2026. It is powered by ZF’s in-house ProAI computing platform, which integrates Horizon Robotics’ flagship Journey® 6P processor — a chip designed specifically for advanced urban driving assistance applications.

Delivering up to 560 trillion operations per second (TOPS) and featuring a multi-core heterogeneous architecture, the Journey 6P enables the efficient operation of large-scale autonomous driving models, including end-to-end, Vision-Language-Action (VLA), and Vision-Language-Model (VLM) frameworks. Leveraging the scalability of the chip, the coPILOT system achieves an industry-leading peak performance exceeding 1,000 TOPS, supporting a suite of intelligent driving functions across highway, city, and automated parking scenarios.
Horizon Robotics describes the Journey 6 family as a scalable computing platform ranging from 18 to 560 TOPS, optimized for diverse intelligent driving demands. The integration with ZF’s ProAI platform marks a milestone in the real-world deployment of the Journey 6 series, underscoring Horizon’s expanding production footprint. As of August 2025, the Journey chip family had surpassed 10 million units in cumulative production, with more than 20 automakers adopting the Journey 6 platform for over 100 vehicle models set for mass production in 2025.
The launch of coPILOT marks a new phase in Horizon Robotics and ZF’s partnership, moving from strategic cooperation to deep technical integration. The system was primarily developed by ZF’s China R&D team, utilizing the computing power of Horizon’s Journey 6P to deliver a production-ready solution that supports advanced driver-assistance and automated parking functions. Horizon said the collaboration with ZF aims to accelerate the adoption of next-generation intelligent driving technologies in China’s fast-evolving automotive sector.
