China FAW Group’s premium brand Hongqi has introduced the Tiangong 05, an all-electric mid-size sedan, marking the second model under its Tiangong modular platform following the launch of the Tiangong 08 electric SUV last month.
Hongqi is offering four variants of the Tiangong 05, with starting prices set at RMB 159,800 ($22,020), RMB 169,800, RMB 175,800, and RMB 185,800, respectively.

The sedan measures 4,820 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, featuring a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. It is based on a conventional 400 V platform and is equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers a maximum power output of 210 kW and peak torque of 317 Nm. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
Two of the entry-level variants come with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs rated at 62 kWh, providing a CLTC range of 550 kilometers. The remaining two versions are fitted with 85 kWh LFP packs, extending the range to 750 kilometers.

All four variants support fast charging, with the lower-priced versions offering a peak charging power of 200 kW, while the higher-end models reach up to 265 kW. The Tiangong 05 can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes under optimal conditions.
Additionally, Hongqi announced plans for two higher-spec variants of the Tiangong 05 based on a 900 V high-voltage platform, though details on specifications and pricing have yet to be disclosed.

The Tiangong 05 follows the January 7 launch of the Tiangong 08, a mid-to-large-size electric SUV priced from RMB 239,800. With these new models, Hongqi aims to strengthen its presence in China’s expanding battery electric vehicle (BEV) market.
