Honda has unveiled its first production images of the Ye P7, a new electric crossover marking a significant step in the automaker’s strategy to strengthen its foothold in China’s electric vehicle (EV) market. The Ye P7 is the first of three planned EVs under the “Ye” sub-brand, reflecting Honda’s ambitions to accelerate its electrification efforts in the world’s largest car market.
The Ye P7, co-developed with Honda’s joint venture partner GAC, is designed as a stylish yet performance-oriented crossover. Measuring 4,750 mm (187 inches) in length and boasting a long wheelbase of 2,930 mm (115.3 inches), the EV offers a spacious interior while maintaining a sleek and modern exterior design. It features distinctive lobster claw-shaped LED headlights, squared-off fenders, and flush-mounted door handles, with rear-facing door cameras replacing traditional mirrors.
Powered by a lithium-ion battery from CATL, the Ye P7 combines a 201-hp (150 kW) front-mounted motor with a 268-hp (200 kW) rear-mounted motor, enabling all-wheel drive. The EV accelerates from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds, placing it among the fastest vehicles in its class. While the battery’s capacity has not yet been disclosed, the performance specifications align with Honda’s intent to deliver cutting-edge EVs tailored for the Chinese market.
Inside, the Ye P7 is expected to feature a tech-forward cabin, based on the concept model revealed earlier. The production interior is likely to include a large central touchscreen for controls, a digital instrument cluster, and advanced connectivity options, aligning with modern consumer expectations.
Set to debut in China later this year, the Ye P7 aims to position Honda as a strong competitor in the rapidly growing Chinese EV market.
