Honda has launched a captivating new advertising campaign titled “Keep Dreaming,” aiming to strike a balance between honoring its storied past and offering a glimpse into the future.
The commercial embarks on a cinematic voyage, celebrating Honda’s commitment to environmental stewardship, all while subtly showcasing the forthcoming 2024 Prologue EV.
The journey commences with a 1975 Civic, equipped with a groundbreaking 1.5-liter CVCC engine. Notably, this engine was the first to meet the stringent emissions standards of the U.S. Clean Air Act without relying on a catalytic converter.
As the commercial unfolds, it pays homage to the 1999 Honda Insight, recognized as the first hybrid vehicle available in the United States. While it blazed a trail, it eventually faced fierce competition from the Toyota Prius.
The spotlight then shifts to the 2008 FCX Clarity, a pioneering hydrogen-powered vehicle offered to retail customers. In its second generation, the Clarity also introduced an electric variant, albeit with a limited range of 89 miles in 2019.
Flying onto the screen is the HondaJet 2600 concept, impressively capable of nonstop transcontinental flights with a remarkable range of 2,625 nautical miles (equivalent to 3,021 miles or 4,862 kilometers). The jet boasts a cruising speed of 450 knots (518 mph or 833 km/h) and a ceiling altitude of 47,000 feet (approximately 14,326 meters).
Continuing the airborne theme, the commercial briefly showcases an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) concept. This aircraft is slated to feature a “gas turbine hybrid power unit,” addressing the limitations of fully electric eVTOLs, which typically have shorter ranges and are primarily suited for intra-city travel.
Transitioning to the ground, the ad provides glimpses of autonomous work vehicles and Motocompacto e-scooters. Intriguingly, it also introduces a couple of “fictional vehicles,” one resembling the e:N GT concept from 2021.
The fictional sedan seamlessly transforms into a stylish ‘K9’ crossover concept, characterized by angular lines, plastic body cladding, and sleek blacked-out A-pillars. Notable features include flush-mounted door handles, digital side mirrors, and a “floating” roof that elegantly converges with an angular rear pillar.
This concept vehicle exudes a distinct aura and appears as a daring interpretation of Honda’s earlier e:N2 concept and the e:NS 2 prototype, which offers a preview of an upcoming production model set to launch in China next year.
