Honda has brought back the iconic Prelude to Europe after a 25-year hiatus, introducing a hybrid sports coupe that blends the brand’s heritage of dynamic performance with modern electrified technology. The new Prelude e:HEV integrates Type R-derived suspension, Honda’s latest hybrid powertrain, and the innovative S+ Shift system for enhanced driver engagement.
The Prelude’s low, wide stance and aerodynamic form are inspired by the elegant simplicity of gliders, emphasizing both stability and flow. Inside, the cabin follows a minimalist, premium design philosophy focused on the driver. The suspension setup borrows from the Civic Type R, with adaptive dampers and Agile Handling Assist (AHA) technology that refine responsiveness and handling precision.

Under the hood, the 2.0-liter e:HEV full hybrid system delivers 184 PS (135 kW), offering smooth and immediate torque delivery. The hybrid unit seamlessly switches between electric, hybrid, and engine drive modes to optimize performance and efficiency. The newly developed Honda S+ Shift system simulates quick gear changes through synchronized control of engine sound, revs, and road speed—creating the sensation of an eight-speed transmission while maintaining the smoothness of a hybrid drive.
Inside, the Prelude features a 10.2-inch digital driver display, a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Bose eight-speaker sound system. The interior’s two-tone color schemes—white-and-blue or black-and-blue—add a sophisticated feel. Despite its sleek coupe styling, the model provides four-seat practicality and up to 663 liters of cargo capacity through a large hatchback tailgate.

Safety technologies are anchored by the updated Honda SENSING suite, which includes recalibrated Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Road Departure Mitigation to support the car’s more dynamic driving characteristics. Exterior color choices include Moonlit White Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Racing Blue Pearl.
Hans de Jaeger, Senior Vice President of Honda Motor Europe, said: “The Honda Prelude’s return has been eagerly anticipated. This nameplate has always represented innovative engineering—and with its graceful design, hybrid technology, and engaging S+ Shift system, it redefines the joy of driving.”
