Heliox announced a partnership with US commercial vehicle group Paccar to supply DC chargers for electric trucks in North America and Europe. Heliox has been known as a charging infrastructure specialist.
The deal between Heliox and Paccar involves the DAF Paccar brand in Europe and the Kenworth and Peterbilt brands in North America. In Europe, Paccar will offer 40 kW mobile chargers and stationary fast chargers with outputs ranging from 150 kW to 360 kW.
In North America, Heliox will supply 40 kW and 50 kW mobile chargers to Paccar dealers and customers. Mobile chargers are used to test whether it is feasible to build a stationary charging infrastructure.
“The truck market is at a turning point in embracing the future of electric driving,” says Dick Leek, General Manager at Paccar Parts Europe. “Heliox will work closely with DAF to meet their customers’ charging needs, facilitating the transition of their fleet from diesel to electric transport.” Heliox CEO Michael Colijn added: “This partnership has come at the perfect time as Heliox continues to expand its European operations for the e-truck market.”
DAF itself at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover launched two electric trucks at once, namely the XD Electric and XF Electric series. Both electric trucks come with a modular powertrain with a Paccar e-motor producing between 170 and 350 kW. Both come with a wide selection of battery packs that give a range from 200 to over 500 kilometers. DAF already has four local, emission-free trucks in various weight classes.
In May last year, Dutch truck manufacturer DAF Trucks began offering its customers a complete range of filling stations with outputs from 20 kW to 350 kW. Mobile chargers with an output of 24 kW to 40 kW are also offered.
