Daimler Buses has delivered five new Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric buses to HEAG mobilo, the public transport operator in Darmstadt, as part of the operator’s ongoing strategy to decarbonize its fleet and modernize urban mobility.
The newly supplied solo buses are equipped with NMC3 battery systems offering a total energy capacity of 588 kilowatt-hours, enabling a range of around 280 kilometres per charge, according to the manufacturer. The vehicles, which will be charged at the depot, are intended for use on regular city routes.

HEAG mobilo has been gradually transitioning to electric mobility in recent years and views this latest delivery as another step toward reducing carbon dioxide emissions. “With the addition of these five eCitaro buses, the company continues to move towards its objective of significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and reliance on diesel-powered vehicles,” the operator said.
Each three-door bus can accommodate up to 70 passengers and includes safety features such as Preventive Brake Assist 2 and Sideguard Assist 2. The interior is fitted with surveillance cameras, infotainment displays, and USB charging ports to improve onboard experience and security.
