The system is intended to provide intuitive communication, moving beyond traditional voice commands to offer more interactive responses. GM also plans to develop proprietary AI for future vehicles, which could adapt to driver preferences with permission through the OnStar network.

The technology is part of GM’s broader “GM Forward” strategy, which emphasizes software and AI as central to the company’s vehicle development.

The AI is expected to assist with a range of functions, including explaining new driving features, monitoring vehicle health, and supporting navigation and trip planning.

The AI will operate on GM’s upcoming centralized computing platform, which the company says will provide significantly higher bandwidth and AI processing capabilities compared with current systems. This platform will also support the launch of GM’s Level 3 “eyes-off” autonomous driving system on the 2028 Cadillac Escalade IQ.
