Hyundai Motor’s luxury division Genesis has entered the French market, marking its fifth European presence after Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Italy, as the brand accelerates its regional expansion with an all-electric portfolio.

At launch, Genesis is introducing three battery-electric models in France: the GV60 compact crossover, the Electrified GV70 mid-size SUV, and the Electrified G80 luxury sedan. Unlike in Germany, where combustion-engine variants are still available, the brand will not offer internal combustion vehicles in France or Italy for now, signaling a stronger commitment to electrification in those markets.

Genesis is coordinating its European growth from its regional headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. The company said its strategy reflects both long-term ambitions in Europe and an effort to align with local demand for premium electric vehicles.

“We have made a long-term commitment to growing our presence in Europe. We are delighted to introduce Genesis to France, a market that represents refinement, innovation, and elegance,” said Peter Kronschnabl, Head of Europe at Genesis. He added that the brand’s “award-winning all-electric line-up reflects our distinctly Korean mindset and design-led values and has been carefully tailored to the needs of European customers.”

The company plans to open its first two retail locations in Paris and Lille this spring, with additional sites scheduled throughout the year. Genesis aims to establish a nationwide service network across France by the end of 2028 to support customers and strengthen after-sales operations.

Charles Fuster, Brand Director of Genesis France, said the launch introduces a different approach to premium mobility. “The arrival of Genesis in France is the perfect opportunity to introduce customers to a new concept of premium experience,” he said, adding that the brand combines Korean craftsmanship with design-focused innovation and everyday usability.

Following recent launches in Italy and France, Genesis plans further European expansion into Spain and the Netherlands later this year as it seeks to build brand recognition and compete with established luxury automakers in the region.
