Genesis, the South Korean luxury carmaker, has announced that its first electric GV70 model will hit the streets later this year in the US. The Electrified GV70, the third electric car from Genesis, will start at $65,850 and is also the first model to be assembled in the US, at the factory in Montgomery, Alabama.
Although production of the Electrified GV70 was initially scheduled to start in early 2022, it was pushed back to December of last year for reasons that Genesis did not name. However, the wait was worth it as the new EV features two electric drives, each producing 160 kW of power and 350 Nm of torque on the front and rear axles. Genesis puts the system power at 360 kW in boost mode and the combined torque at 700 Nm.

In Europe, the Electrified GV70 is available with prices starting at £64,405 in the UK, which is about $77,000 and much more expensive than in the US due to the addition of sales tax after the fact.

According to Genesis, from 2025, all newly launched models will be electric, and the entire lineup will consist of EVs only by 2030. The Electrified GV70 marks a significant step towards achieving that goal, and with its impressive performance and advanced features, it is sure to be a popular choice for luxury EV enthusiasts.
