General Motors share new teaser about Chevrolet FNR-XE Concept

General Motors has shared additional details about the FNR-XE concept which will be unveiled in November. According to SAIC-GM (a joint venture that enables the manufacture of GM vehicles in China), the “FNR” of the name stands for “Find New Roads”, while the “X” and “E” represent the company’s pursuit of new ideas and their Ultium electric drivetrain platform.

Unfortunately, the car manufacturer hasn’t shared details about the performance capabilities of the FNR-XE. However, it is likely that this sedan will adopt an engine configuration similar to the new Equinox EV, which will be available with front and all-wheel drive configurations and varying power output.

While waiting for the technical details to be provided, the manufacturer has at least shared additional images of this concept sedan. We can see the coupe-style roofline, with black contrast, adding to the impression of exclusivity.

A perhaps interesting feature is how the roofline and rear windshield extend past the doors, reminiscent of the equally sleek Volkswagen Arteon and similarly styled sedans. Prominent rear fenders give the car a wide and authoritative appearance from behind.

Up front, the FNR-XE is clearly inspired by the existing Camaro but has been modernized and given a different look. Turbine-style wheels also look quite stunning. As a reminder, the FNR-XE made its debut at GM China Tech Day 2022, where the joint partnership announced it would introduce as many as 15 new EVs for the China market through 2025. Like the Cadillac Lyriq and other new GM electric vehicles, the new sedan will be based on Ultium platform.

Whether this model will be available for the US market remains to be seen, but that’s unlikely as Chevy has previously said the concept sedan is a preview of the next-generation EV being developed for the Chinese market. However, who knows if later the FNR-XE will also be introduced in the US.

GM’s Mark Reuss recently described a new sedan that is very similar to the FNR-XE. “This is Car-D released for the Chinese market which will no doubt be an excellent replacement for Malibu,” he concluded.
