Just months after the debut of the E8 electric sedan, Geely’s subsidiary Galaxy has pulled the curtain back on its latest offering, the E5 electric SUV. With a launch slated for the Chinese market followed by a global rollout, the E5 promises a blend of practicality and sophistication.

Measuring 4,615 mm long, 1,901 mm wide, and 1,670 mm tall, the Galaxy E5 falls into the compact SUV category, echoing the dimensions of the VW ID.4. Despite its smaller stature, the E5 exudes a sense of elegance, with narrow headlights, L-shaped daytime running lights, and an illuminated Geely logo creating a refined front profile.

The side profile of the E5 draws comparisons to the larger Porsche Cayenne, while the wheels seem inspired by VW ID.3’s “Sanya” design. Emphasizing space and visibility, the E5’s design prioritizes practicality over flamboyance.

At the rear, the E5 boasts a full-width taillight with sporty outer segments, reminiscent of the Renault Talisman’s lights, adding a touch of flair to its design.

Inside, the E5 impresses with a minimalist dashboard housing slim AC vents, a head-up display, and a large touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel features a chunky center pad and physical buttons, catering to traditional European preferences. The center console integrates a knurled rotary dial, climate control buttons, and a wireless charging pad, enhancing the cabin’s functionality.

While Geely has not released official specifications, reports suggest the E5 will offer a 160 kW (218 PS) drive system. Its battery cells will be integrated into the body structure, a design choice aimed at enhancing structural integrity.

The Galaxy E5 is set to launch in China in the latter half of the year, with plans for a right-hand drive version for the UK market. While a European launch is on the cards, there is no official confirmation yet.
