Geely Launches High-End Electric Brand, Geely Galaxy, to Take on Tesla and BYD

Geely, the Chinese automotive giant and owner of Polestar, Zeekr, and Volvo, is taking on the likes of Tesla and BYD with the launch of its new high-end electrified product series, Geely Galaxy. With the first fully electric vehicle set to launch before the end of the year, the brand is adding to its impressive portfolio of sustainable transportation offerings.

Geely’s journey towards sustainable transportation began in 2010 when it acquired Volvo from Ford, granting the Chinese automaker access to the Swedish automaker’s advanced technology and expertise in safety, design, and engineering. Geely also gained access to Volvo’s racing partner, Polestar, which it bought out in 2015.

In 2021, Geely and Volvo announced a partnership to collaborate on next-generation electric drive technology. This collaboration has already seen success with the sales of Volvo’s C40 and XC40 Recharge electric SUVs more than doubling.

Geely has also expanded its EV offerings beyond Volvo to include its own brand of vehicles, alongside its mass-market EV unit, Geometry, and premium smart EV brand, Zeekr.

To compete in the rapidly expanding EV market, Geely is launching Geely Galaxy, a new high-end electric brand. The brand will launch seven new electrified products, including three fully electric vehicles under the pure Galaxy E range. The first model, the Galaxy E8, is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Geely Galaxy will feature the latest battery safety technology and the new Galaxy N-Operating system, providing models with the fastest system startup and response in its class.

Geely is yet to reveal more details, including range and pricing, but with its impressive portfolio and commitment to sustainable transportation, it’s clear the brand is positioning itself as a major contender in the global EV market.
