Geely Galaxy, a sub-brand under China’s Geely Auto, has received over 10,000 firm orders for its new hybrid sedan, the Starshine 8, just six days after its launch on May 9, signaling strong early demand that could boost the company’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales momentum.
Geely Galaxy, which was elevated from a product lineup to a dedicated brand in March this year, unveiled the Starshine 8 as a mid-to-large-size hybrid sedan available in seven variants—five fuel-efficient EM-i versions and two performance-focused EM-P versions. Prices for the EM-i versions start at RMB 125,800 ($17,450), while the EM-P trims begin at RMB 154,800. A RMB 10,000 limited-time discount is being offered on purchases made before June 30.

Measuring 5,018 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,928 mm, the Starshine 8 offers both performance and practicality. The EM-i models can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, while the EM-P versions reach the same mark in 6.49 seconds. Battery options range from 8.5 kWh to 18.4 kWh, offering a CLTC electric-only range of up to 130 km.
Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin described the model’s pricing as “very competitive” compared to rivals such as the BYD Han DM-i, BYD Seal 07 DM-i, and Leapmotor C01. “We are now more confident on Geely Galaxy’s 2025 full-year volume target of 1.0 million units thanks to Geely’s aggressive pricing strategy,” Wang wrote in a recent research note.

The pricing advantage is attributed to the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA), which integrates multiple electrification technologies under a single platform, helping reduce production complexity and costs. The analyst noted that GEA shortens R&D cycles and improves sourcing and manufacturing efficiency.
Geely Galaxy sold 96,632 vehicles in April, a 659% year-on-year increase. Cumulative sales for the first four months of 2025 reached 356,341 units, up 595% from the same period last year, according to figures released by the company.
