French logistics company Vallée Group has begun deploying battery-electric heavy-duty trucks from Mercedes-Benz Trucks as part of a gradual transition of its drivetrain strategy, adding three eActros 600 models to its fleet and commissioning new charging infrastructure at its headquarters.
Vallée Transports, which employs around 850 people and operates a fleet of roughly 650 vehicles, is based in La Madeleine-de-Nonancourt, west of Paris. The first eActros 600 was delivered around six weeks ago, with the remaining two units scheduled to arrive before the end of the year, the company said.
The electric trucks will be charged at a newly installed depot charging facility at Vallée’s headquarters. The site includes four charging points, comprising one high-power 400 kW fast charger and three additional chargers rated at 240 kW each. The infrastructure has now been connected to the power grid, enabling regular daily operations.
Vallée said the depot-based charging setup will allow the eActros 600 trucks to operate in double shifts. According to a statement posted on LinkedIn, the company is targeting annual mileage of more than 120,000 kilometres per electric truck, signalling an intention to integrate the vehicles into intensive long-haul and regional logistics use.
Alongside the electric additions, Vallée has also placed an order for 62 new diesel-powered trucks from Mercedes-Benz Trucks, underlining a mixed-fleet approach as the company balances decarbonisation goals with operational requirements.
The deployment reflects a broader trend among European logistics operators adopting battery-electric heavy-duty trucks while investing in high-capacity charging infrastructure to support commercial-scale use.
