Forsee Power has received an order for the Zen Slim battery module from Wrightbus. The Northern Irish bus maker needs the Zen Slim battery module for its 420 electric buses.
The order consists of three module variants with capacities of 11, 16 and 21 kWh. The Zen Slim battery module has a flat format for easy integration into the vehicle chassis.
Forsee Power announced its Zen Slim battery module technology in January last year. At that time, Wrightbus became the first customer for the module.
The Forsee Power modules deliver a total capacity of 333 kWh to 454 kWh for the Wrightbus double-decker buses and 333 kWh to 550 kWh for the single-decker buses.
âOur new double-deck bus powertrain equipped with FORSEE ZEN SLIM batteries is the highest battery capacity for a UK Double Deck bus and is also extremely energy efficient,â said Robert Best, technical director at Wrightbus.
Using the Zen Slim battery module from Forsee Power takes 2.5 hours to charge and covers a distance of 320 kilometers on a single charge. The two companies have been working together since 2013.
âWe’ve been partnering with Wrightbus since the beginning of that journey, and such close link helped understand deeper market needs and develop the best offer in the market, constantly improving our technologies,â says SĂ©bastien Rembauville-Nicolle, VP Business Development at Forsee Power.
Forsee Power says as many as 1,200 electric buses worldwide use their batteries. In the middle of this month, Forsee Power opened a production facility in Poitiers which has five assembly lines for electric bus batteries with a production capacity of 1 GWh.
Rembauville-Nicolle claims electric buses equipped with batteries from Forsee Power will more than double in the next year.
