Former Tesla Autopilot Director of Product Kate Park Joins Scale AI as Director of Product

Kate Park, formerly the Director of Product at Tesla Autopilot, recently announced her departure from the company and her new role as Director of Product at Scale AI. In a tweet, Park stated, “I had a blast building Tesla Autopilot’s data engine and I’m excited to generalize this product for multiple industries from computer vision to large language models.”

Park, who spent nearly five years at Tesla, started as an Autopilot Computer Vision Intern in 2018 while still studying computer science at Stanford University. She then contributed to the team in various roles, including being one of the inventors of a 2020 patent that Tesla was granted for “Autonomous and User Controlled Vehicle Summon to a Target.”

At last year’s AI Day, Park showcased the Autopilot Data Engine and how it improves the neural network, which improves the program’s performance with each mile driven. Many Tesla fans may remember Park from this event.

Now, Park will join Scale AI, a San Francisco-based company that works with clients such as Microsoft and Meta, as well as other AI companies like Open AI and Cohere. The company’s mission is to accelerate the development of AI applications by providing high-quality data for AI training.

“At Scale, our mission is to accelerate the development of AI applications. We believe that to make the best models, you need the best data,” the company’s website states.

Park’s new role as Director of Product Management will allow her to apply her experience at Tesla to other industries and AI applications.

“I’m excited to join the Scale team and help accelerate the development of AI applications across industries,” Park stated in a recent LinkedIn update.

With Park’s expertise in data engineering and AI, Scale AI is sure to benefit from her contributions, and the industry can expect more developments in AI applications in the coming years.
