Ford Upgrades Factory in Mexico and Unveils Improved Mustang Mach-E with Extended Range

Ford has completed upgrades to its factory in Mexico and is opening order books for its improved Mustang Mach-E on May 3. The upgraded Mustang Mach-E boasts a higher EPA rating of 250 miles for the RWD version and 226 miles for the AWD model, thanks to the installation of a new LFP battery. The RWD version now starts at $42,995, while the AWD version starts at $45,995 – both of which are $3,000 lower than before.

In addition to the extended range, the AWD version of the Mustang Mach-E also gets a power bump, increasing the total output to 311 hp – an improvement of 45 hp. This results in a 0 to 60 mph time of just 5.1 seconds. The charging time has also been improved, with both vehicles taking just 33 minutes to charge from 10 to 80% using the DC fast charger.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT has received the biggest price cut, with a $4,000 reduction in price to now start from $59,995. The premium AWD and RWD versions have also received a $4,000 reduction in MSRP, and upgrading to the extended range battery still requires an extra $7,000. The Nite Pony package remains unchanged at $800. While BlueCruise 1.2 can be tried for free for 90 days, the full price has gone up to $2,100, which includes three years of updates.

However, the GT version of the Mach-E still misses out on the US EV tax credit, as it remains too expensive, with a price tag above the $55,000 threshold. While other versions of the Mustang Mach-E qualify for a partial $3,500 top-up from the government, none of them qualify for the full $7,500 rebate due to the battery being manufactured outside of the US.

These improvements also make the Mustang Mach-E a more attractive option for customers looking for a high-performance electric vehicle with an extended range and improved charging times.
