British construction equipment and services provider Speedy, added 150 new electric vans. Speedy ordered 100 Ford E-Transit models (4.25 t class) and 50 E-Transit vans (3.5 t class) to replace the ICE models.
Speedy is one of the UK’s leading providers of tools, equipment and plant rental services to customers in the construction, infrastructure and industrial markets, as well as local trade and consumers.
The Ford E-Transit van has a 135 kW motor power, ford only offers the E-Transit with one 68 kWh net battery variant.
Speedy began operating these Ford E-Transit vehicles in October, and the company also built EV charging stations at 200 service center points for use by employees and customers.
The Speedy and Ford partnership is the company’s latest step towards achieving its target of more than half of its commercial vehicles being electric or hybrid by 2025 and fully low-carbon vehicles by 2030.
Speedy is already running the Maxus eDeliver and introduced the access delivery truck using electric vehicles last December. The company has also refueled HGV and its tankers with water-treated vegetable oil to reduce emissions.
Chris Dempsey, Managing Director of Operational Support at Speedy said “converting our vehicles to low- and zero-carbon models is critical to leading the recruiting industry’s journey towards decarbonization and in line with our strategy to decarbonize our property network and expand the range of Eco-emissions equipment and equipment.
Adam Harkin, Ford Executive Managing UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted to continue this partnership as the company accelerates its path towards a zero carbon future and transition to an electric alternative for its fleet.”
It should be noted that the Ford E-Transit will be tested by Speedy in July, with the hope that the cooperation between the two companies will produce the best environmentally friendly vehicles.
