Ford Pro has launched E-Switch Assist, a digital tool designed to help businesses assess the feasibility of transitioning their fleets to electric vehicles (EVs). By analyzing connected vehicle data, E-Switch Assist determines whether gas-powered Transit® vans and F-150® pickups can be replaced with electric models like the E-Transit™ and F-150® Lightning®. Additionally, Ford Pro provides home charging solutions to support employees using company vehicles.
E-Switch Assist is intended to assist businesses in evaluating their readiness for electrification. The complimentary tool uses algorithms to analyze various factors, including distance driven, cargo load, and driving conditions, to identify gas-powered vehicles that may be suitable for replacement with electric models. This tool is currently available in multiple countries and aims to facilitate the electrification process for commercial fleets.
Nathan McDonald, EV Strategy and Brand Manager at Ford Pro, highlighted the role of data-driven tools like E-Switch Assist in discussing EV readiness among commercial customers. He noted that these tools help companies reconsider the viability of electric vehicles for their operations while potentially leading to cost savings. E-Switch Assist has already evaluated over 38,000 commercial vehicles, indicating that 53% could be candidates for electrification.
For businesses with employees who take company vehicles home, Ford Pro has introduced the Series 2 48-amp charger, designed for overnight charging. This commercial-grade charger features RFID technology for access control and cellular connectivity for monitoring usage. With Ford Pro Charging Software, companies can manage employee charging activity, set automated schedules, and track energy reimbursements, regardless of the vehicle’s make or location.
