Fisker, the electric car manufacturer, is facing a series of challenges, including financial difficulties and now recalls for its Ocean SUV in both Europe and North America.

The most significant recall affects 11,201 Ocean SUVs in the US, Canada, and Europe. These vehicles have a potential safety risk due to a motor-control unit and vehicle-control unit software that may enter a safe-state protection mode, leading to a loss of power. Fisker plans to resolve this issue through an over-the-air update.

In a brief press release, Fisker announced the recall but did not mention whether it has received any warranty claims related to the issue or knows of any related incidents.

A second recall, limited to the US and Canada, involves 6,864 Ocean SUVs. This recall addresses compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, specifically related to warning lights on the dashboard. Fisker revealed that the font size used for the brake, park, and ABS warning indicators is too small, and the brake warning lights are amber instead of the required red. There are also issues with the operation of the tire pressure warning light. Again, these issues can be rectified through an over-the-air update.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Transport Canada are in the process of publishing the recalls on their websites, but further details, such as whether the recalls impact all Ocean SUVs or only those produced between specific dates, are not yet known.

Fisker expects to complete the software updates for both recalls by June 30, ensuring that owners won’t have to wait long for the fixes.
