German car subscription provider Finn has signed a framework agreement with China’s BYD for the delivery of up to 5,000 vehicles over the next ten months, the companies said on Thursday, in a move aimed at expanding Finn’s electric vehicle (EV) portfolio.
The deal marks the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between the two companies and allows Finn customers to book five BYD models immediately: the all-electric Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal, Sealion 7, and the plug-in hybrid Seal U DM-i. A sixth model, the new BYD Dolphin Surf, will be added once it launches in Germany.
“This agreement is a clear commitment to a long-term partnership and joint growth between Finn and BYD,” said Jürgen Lobach, Chief Fleet Officer and Managing Director at Finn. “Together, we are driving the transformation towards sustainable mobility – fast, scalable and accessible to all.”
The Munich-based company is offering BYD models on subscription for periods between six and 24 months, with prices starting at €259 per month. The partnership comes as Finn seeks to grow its fleet from 25,000 to 40,000 vehicles by year-end, with electric cars expected to account for 40% of the total. Currently, 35% of its fleet is fully electric.
BYD, which sold just 2,891 vehicles in Germany in 2024 — down 30% from 2023, according to KBA figures — views the deal as a significant step toward building brand recognition in the country. “We are very pleased to have Finn as a long-term partner,” said Maria Grazia Davino, SVP Regional Managing Director at BYD Europe. “Together with Finn, we will be able to familiarise even more drivers with BYD’s outstanding vehicle technologies and convince them of the benefits of electromobility.”
Finn, founded in 2019, aims to raise the share of electric vehicles in its fleet to over 80% by 2028. The company has also signed a framework agreement with Stellantis, under which 5,300 vehicles have already been ordered for 2025. Finn offers subscriptions to over 30 brands and bundles insurance, registration, and maintenance in its packages.
BYD’s vehicles for the Finn deal will be sourced from China and, in the future, from its planned manufacturing site in Hungary.
