Fiat’s sales conditions deteriorated sharply in the United States, but the company did not give up. Quite the opposite as the brand teases the return of the Fiat 500e.
Set to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the redesigned hatch is nearly identical to the European variant introduced in 2020.
Little is known about the car at this time, but Fiat says fans will be “surprised” that the latest model will have “the electric feel of one of the most iconic and classic Fiat brand vehicles of all time.”
In case that wasn’t clear enough, the teaser image titled “500e” shows the typical headlight unit of the 500 EV sold in global markets.
No word on specifications for the US at this time, but the European model offers an electric motor with an output of 94 hp (70 kW/95 PS) and 117 hp (87 kW/118 PS).
Customers can also choose between 24 and 42 kWh battery packs. The more powerful of the two offers a range of up to 199 miles (320 km) in the UK, though the EPA estimate is likely to be lower.
We’ll find out soon enough, but the return of the Fiat 500e couldn’t be imminent any time soon, as Fiat’s lineup has been reduced to a single model in the United States.
Following the discontinuation of the Fiat 500, 500L and 124 Spider, Fiat only offered the 500X in America and sales were expected to be underwhelming, as the company sold only 757 units during the first nine months of the year.
