Italian sports car brand Ferrari has launched a battery exchange program for its plug-in hybrid models, allowing customers to replace the battery of their vehicles up to two times to preserve the residual value.
Ferraris are not only high-performance vehicles but also financial investments. In plug-in hybrids, while the combustion engine is predominantly used, the battery remains a crucial and costly component. Over time, battery performance can degrade, impacting the electric range and overall drive power, which in turn affects the vehicle’s residual value.
To address this, Ferrari’s new battery replacement program acts as a warranty extension, offering battery replacements at fixed intervals. The “Warranty Extension Hybrid Programme” extends the current five-year warranty to eight years. Should a problem arise, Ferrari will replace the battery at no extra cost. Additionally, the “Power Hybrid Programme” further extends the warranty on all essential drive components, including the battery, to 16 years after the initial eight-year warranty extension.
These programs cover the SF90 Stradale, SF90 Spider, SF90 XX Stadale, SF90 XX Spider, and the 296 GTB and 296 GTS models. It is not yet confirmed if the program will extend to Ferrari’s first electric model, set to launch next year.
