Fang Cheng Bao made its official debut on June 9 when its name was unveiled by BYD. Subsequently, on July 4, the automaker revealed that its debut model would be known as the Leopard 5. The journey to this reveal was paved with anticipation, as BYD gradually introduced the Fang Cheng Bao brand through a series of teasers and announcements. A video released on July 21 provided viewers with a glimpse of the Leopard 5’s defining features, building even more excitement among automotive enthusiasts.

Currently focusing on models targeting the sub-RMB 300,000 ($41,320) market segment, BYD is poised to expand its presence in the premium segment with sub-brands like Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang. The introduction of the Leopard 5 is anticipated to bridge the gap between RMB 400,000 and RMB 600,000, offering customers a wider range of choices within BYD’s lineup.

Notably, the Denza brand, operating under the BYD umbrella, recently launched the Denza N7 and Denza N8 models. These offerings cater to the market priced between RMB 300,000 and RMB 400,000, highlighting BYD’s ongoing efforts to meet diverse consumer preferences.

Yangwang, another sub-brand of BYD, commenced pre-sales of the U8 model on April 18, coinciding with the opening day of the Shanghai Auto Show. The U8 lineup includes the Premium Edition and Off-road Master Edition, both priced at RMB 1.098 million. Notably, the U8 Premium Edition is scheduled for release in August, with deliveries expected to commence in September, marking yet another significant milestone for BYD and its sub-brands.
