In the realm of online forums and social media, where leaked images and videos of upcoming automotive innovations abound, one vehicle has been particularly elusive when it comes to its inner workings – the Tesla Cybertruck. A recent image surfaced on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), courtesy of user @DimaZeniuk, shedding light on the intriguing details of the Cybertruck’s bed. These details have ignited discussions and raised questions about Tesla’s previously touted size claims for its unconventional electric pickup.

At its initial debut, the Cybertruck captured attention with its distinctive feature: featureless vertical walls surrounding the bed. However, this newly revealed image, seemingly depicting a release candidate test mule, presents an unexpected twist – slanted bed walls. This departure from the original concept’s straight side walls has left enthusiasts wondering if Tesla encountered challenges in achieving the promised design, given the need to accommodate wheel arches, a common feature in traditional pickup trucks.

What makes the slanted sides even more peculiar is the material choice – stainless steel. Unlike conventional pickup trucks that often use aluminum or regular steel in the bed area, Tesla’s decision to employ stainless steel may have contributed to this unusual design quirk. The inherent rigidity of stainless steel might have necessitated the use of flat panels to shape the bed’s walls and bottom.

While this design element may not be a significant concern for consumers who primarily use their pickup trucks for everyday transportation rather than heavy-duty hauling, it does cast doubt on the practicality of the Cybertruck’s cargo bed. The precise dimensions of the bed, as well as the extent to which the sloping sides encroach upon the cargo area, remain undisclosed. Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, had previously stated that the Cybertruck would feature a six-foot bed, positioning it as a formidable competitor to the Ford F-150 Lightning. However, the introduction of these sloped walls raises questions about the utility advantage of the Cybertruck’s bed.

On a positive note, the image does reveal an LED light strip lining both sides of the bed. This feature promises enhanced convenience for users loading or unloading cargo in low-light conditions, offering a hands-free solution to their tasks.

As anticipation for the Tesla Cybertruck continues to grow, these newfound design nuances add intrigue to the electric pickup’s forthcoming debut and its potential impact on the competitive landscape of the automotive industry.
