British parcel delivery service Evri plans to triple the number of electric bikes in its fleet and increase electric vehicles by roughly 50% as part of a sustainability drive, with ambitions to become a net-zero company by 2025.
Evri announced a 19 million pound investment in sustainability to reduce emissions. The company currently operates 33 electric cargo bikes, which will increase to 99 by next year and aims to have 3,000 by 2035.
Active in London, Bristol, Oxford, and Cambridge, Evri delivers 1.5 million parcels with electric vehicles per year and aims to increase this to around four million by the end of next year.
Each electric cargo bike has a capacity of around 2,000 liters and will be used for last-mile deliveries, potentially saving emissions equivalent to driving over 400,000 miles as the fleet grows.
Chief Executive Martijn De Lange stated, “Pedal power will rev up our efforts to reimagine parcel deliveries in the UK as we aim to become the biggest operator of e-cargo bikes in the sector. The £19 million investment announced today will lay the groundwork for Evri to dial up on its ambition to become the UK’s most sustainable parcel carrier.”
