Tesla has officially launched the Model Y L in China, a large six-seater electric SUV, with a starting price of 339,000 yuan (around $47,120 USD). Deliveries for the new model are expected to begin in September.
Designed with both style and functionality in mind, the Model Y L introduces several upgrades to its exterior, interior, and performance compared to the standard Model Y.
Exterior and Dimensions
The Model Y L features subtle but impactful exterior changes, including a redesigned roofline and a re-engineered rear spoiler that gives the SUV a more dynamic appearance. These aerodynamic enhancements contribute to an impressive drag coefficient of 0.216, helping to optimize efficiency.

In terms of size, the Model Y L measures 4,976 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,668 mm in height, with a wheelbase extended to 3,040 mm. This longer wheelbase not only enhances cabin space but also provides greater comfort for passengers, especially in the third row.
Interior and Technology
Inside, Tesla has upgraded the Model Y L with a 16-inch central touchscreen and improved charging capabilities. The front wireless charging pad now supports simultaneous fast charging at 50W and 30W, while charging ports are available for every seat in the second and third rows. The audio system has also been redesigned, featuring a new center console speaker along with two additional top speakers to enhance sound quality throughout the cabin.

Passenger safety is prioritized with a comprehensive airbag system spanning three rows. Covering more than 95% of the vehicle’s longitudinal space, the Model Y L’s airbags extend across a total protection area of 3.9 meters.
Performance and Storage
The Model Y L is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The front motor delivers up to 142 kW (190 hp), while the rear motor provides 198 kW (266 hp). This setup allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

Equipped with an 82 kWh ternary lithium battery, the Model Y L offers a CLTC range of 751 km and an energy consumption rate of 12.8 kWh/100 km. Cargo capacity is impressive as well, with a maximum expandable volume of 2,539 liters.
This space can accommodate two 24-inch and one 20-inch suitcase, or with the third-row seats folded, four 28-inch and two 20-inch suitcases, making it ideal for families and long trips.
