Smart car is better known as a vehicle maker whose cars are widespread in mainland Europe. If usually known as small urban cars, some time ago Smart has introduced a funky crossover called Smart #1.

Smart #1 has a sporty exterior with futuristic-looking wheels. And as we expected, the athletic Smart car is actually the result of a collaboration between Smart and Brabus Custom.

Thanks to an additional electric motor on the front axle, the #1 can put out 422 hp and 542 Nm of torque. The setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 96 km in just 3.9 seconds – 2.8 seconds faster than the regular model.

Honestly we have to admit the acceleration is extraordinary for a crossover. It’s not only faster than its closest competitor, the Mini Cooper Electric Hardtop, but it’s also capable of rivaling the BMW M3.

But behind the amazing acceleration, this car has a fairly short range or only around 400 km. However, this weakness is covered by its fast charging capability which can charge a 66 kWh battery from 10% to 80% when using a 150 kW charger.

Unfortunately, there is no word on whether the Smart #1 Brabus will be mass produced or not. Even if mass-produced, this car is expected to sell for $50,000 – a price that is quite expensive in its class.

If successful, the Smart #1 will compete with ICE vehicles such as the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 and Mini Cooper JCW Countryman, as well as electric rivals such as the ID.4, Mustang Mach-E, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
