Following its launch last November at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show, Kia has just revealed information on the specifications and features of the Kia Niro.

Like the previous generation, the new Kia Niro will come in a traditional hybrid drive, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric car.

Now the first version revealed by Kia’s specifications is the Niro Hybrid.

Starting from the engine, the Kia Niro Hybrid maintains the formula for driving the previous generation Niro, which is a four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1,580 cc.

The engine, nicknamed the Smartstream G1.6, produces 105 hp and 144 Nm of peak torque, the same as the previous generation.

Of course, as a hybrid drive, Kia combines the engine with an electric motor that produces 32 kW or 44 hp.

The Niro Hybrid engine and electric motor produce a combined power of 141 hp which is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The interesting thing about the Kia Niro hybrid drive is the Green Zone Drive Mode feature which automatically activates the electric mode.

Thanks to this mode, the Niro Hybrid can pass through the low-emission zone without emitting any exhaust emissions.

In addition to the Green Zone Drive Mode, the Kia Niro Hybrid gets a lot of features ranging from the integrative features of Kia DriveWise.

DriveWise on the Niro Hybrid consists of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and many more.

Oh yes, DriveWise has a Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) feature that gives the Niro Hybrid autonomous parking capabilities.

Other interesting features of the Niro Hybrid include Voice Car Control with Natural Voice Recognition, Kia’s Digital Key 2 Touch, and of course Kia Connect.
