The second generation Kia Niro was introduced in November 2021. However, the specifications of this electric car were only published in January 2022. Kia Sweden (Sweden) is the first to release the latest Kia Niro specifications, starting with the Plug-in Hybrid and full electric variants.

The hybrid version of the Kia Niro produces 139 hp. This system combines a Smartstream 1,600 cc GDI four-cylinder engine and a new electric motor that produces 83 hp. Thus, the combined output is 182 hp. Another notable upgrade is the 11.1 kWh lithium-ion battery which allows for a further electric range of up to 60 km.

As for the Kia Niro EV, this one uses an electric motor that produces 201 hp and 255 Nm of torque. The power is identical to the previous generation although the torque is lower as the previous model had 395 Nm.

The battery has the same capacity of 64.8 kWh enabling an electric range of 463 km. In a fast charger and under optimal conditions, the EV battery can reach 10 to 80% in 43 minutes.

The official images of the Kia Niro Hybrid and Niro EV show a unique front bumper and different rims. The EV has a smaller center intake and reduced black trim around it and an additional charging port under the grille.

The second generation Kia Niro is based on an updated version of its predecessor’s architecture with optimized steering and suspension settings. All variants measure 4,420 mm in length, 1,825 mm in width and 1,545 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

The larger exterior dimensions result in a more spacious cabin with more legroom for rear passengers. Cargo space varies depending on the type of powertrain, with capacities of 451 lt in the Hybrid and 495 lt in the EV model.

In Sweden, the Kia Niro is available in three trims, namely Action, Advance and Advance Plus. Dual 10.25-inch displays with navigation and reverse camera are standard across all models, as is the ADAS range including Highway Driving Assist.

The Advance variant adds synthetic leather upholstery, ventilated seats, Harman Kardon sound system, active blind-spot warning and electric tailgate, while the Advance Plus adds more features such as a head-up display, remote parking, passenger seat sleep mode, and charging. wireless.

Lastly, the latest Kia Niro is priced from IDR 497 million for the hybrid variant, and IDR 737 million for the EV model. All variants will be launched in Europe in the first quarter of 2022.
