Mitch Evans surged from ninth on the grid to claim a record-breaking 15th career victory in Formula E after a dramatic wet-weather Miami E-Prix on Saturday.

Driving for Jaguar TCS Racing, Evans navigated treacherous conditions to move clear at the top of Formula E’s all-time winners list, with a decisive switchback move on pole-sitter Nico Müller proving the turning point of the race.

Müller finished second for ABT Cupra Formula E Team, ahead of factory Porsche Formula E Team driver Pascal Wehrlein in third, securing a double podium for Porsche. Envision Racing’s Joel Eriksson finished fourth, with Nyck de Vries rounding out the top five.

Heavy rain before the start led officials to neutralise the opening five laps behind the safety car, marking the first wet running of the Miami event. A standing start followed, with Müller leading from Felipe Drugovich on the front row.

As is typical in wet Formula E races, gaps opened quickly. A leading group of seven — Müller, Evans, Drugovich, de Vries, Wehrlein, Eriksson and Antonio Felix da Costa — broke clear before drama struck on Lap 26, when Drugovich misjudged his braking and collided with da Costa. Drugovich pitted for repairs, while da Costa dropped out of contention.

Evans made his decisive move a lap later, executing a clean switchback on Müller to seize the lead and then steadily extend his advantage. With 10 laps remaining, the top five all retained one final Attack Mode activation, adding a tactical element to the closing stages.

Wehrlein activated first, passing de Vries for third, before Müller and Evans responded. The leading trio then pulled clear, leaving de Vries to slip behind Eriksson before recovering to finish fifth.

Evans controlled the final laps to seal a landmark victory ahead of Müller and Wehrlein. Further back, championship contenders Nick Cassidy and Oliver Rowland, along with Jake Dennis, finished outside the points after spending the race in the lower half of the field.
