The entry-level Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD is not expected to ship this year if you place your order now.
According to Tesla’s website, the delivery time for the base version is estimated at January 2023.
If you want faster delivery in 2022, there are several options.
- 20″ Induction Wheels ($2,000) – Est Delivery: October, 2022
- Paint (Blue – $1,000, Black – $1,500 or Red – $2,000) – Est Delivery: October, 2022
- Full Self-Driving Capability ($12,000) – Est Delivery: June, 2022
Tesla seems to be prioritizing ordering with additional options to simply increase revenue and potentially the margin of each car.
Tesla itself is faced with an increase in the raw materials for making their vehicles. The Russo-Ukrainian war is said to be the cause of the increase in raw materials, especially Nickel.
As a result the past few weeks, Tesla has increased the prices of all the models they manufacture in the US and China.
The Y LR AWD model, increased by a total of $4,000, from $58,990 to $62,990 (without DST). As of late December 2020, the AWD Model Y LR costs $48,490. Within 15 months the base price increased by $14,500 or 30%.
For reference, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD now starts at $54,490. At the end of December 2020 the price reached $45,490. The Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD saw an increase of $9,000 or 20% in 20 months.
