EHang Holdings Ltd, a Chinese air taxi company, recently showcased its EH216-S pilotless electric flying vehicle by conducting demonstration flights with passengers onboard. The flights were part of a tourism initiative known as Low-Altitude Tourism in Wencheng, according to a statement from EHang.

EHang delivered 27 of its electric aerial vehicles (EAVs) to the Wencheng County Transportation Development Group in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, under a larger deal to supply 300 pilotless flying vehicles to the tourism development group. The group made a 50% deposit as part of the pre-delivery payment.

During the demonstrations, EHang operated multiple passenger flights for low-altitude sightseeing tours over Tianding Lake at the Baizhangji Fall and Feiyun Lake Scenic Resort, offering scenic views of the Wencheng area. The company set up a dedicated takeoff and landing site for its two-passenger EAV at the Scenic Resort, using the urban air mobility (UAM) operation center as a model for future aerial sightseeing services in Wencheng.

EHang, in collaboration with the Wencheng County Government, is actively developing UAM and supporting infrastructure to facilitate low-altitude commercial flights for tourism, transportation, logistics, and emergency response purposes.

“We’ve received a surge in bulk orders from customers and partners globally, which is a testament to the market recognition of our innovative pilotless eVTOL products and solutions,” said Zhao Wang, Chief Operating Officer of EHang.

EHang’s EH216-S recently completed its maiden autonomous flight in Saudi Arabia, operated in conjunction with Front End Limited Company. The company has secured support from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services, Ministry of Hajj, and Ministry of Interior.

EHang also finalized a deal to sell 50 flying vehicles to Xishan Tourism, valued at $15 million, with an additional agreement for 450 EAVs over the next two years for aerial tourism and passenger transportation.

Before the Saudi Arabia flight, EHang conducted its first passenger demonstration ride in Abu Dhabi, following previous EAV demonstrations at the DriftX mobility expo. The company has joined the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries Cluster in Abu Dhabi and formed partnerships to advance its passenger eVTOL subsidiary.

EHang’s EH216-S, already equipped with a Production Certificate (PC) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and a standard airworthiness certificate (AC), is set for mass production. The company has also conducted demonstration flights in Latin America and flown a fleet of 12 EAVs simultaneously in China.
