Edmunds has corrected its article on the range of the Tesla Cybertruck. The update came after members of the EV community on X pointed out an error in the initial report regarding the Cybertruck’s tire specifications and range estimates.
Initially, Edmunds reported that the all-electric pickup truck fell short of its 340-mile range estimate, citing a real-world range of 334 miles in their testing. However, it was later clarified that the Cybertruck’s 340-mile range is for the vehicle’s All Season tires, which are slated for release in 2024. The current Cybertrucks come with all-terrain tires, which have an estimated range of 318 miles. Therefore, the Cybertruck actually exceeded its range estimate in Edmunds’ test.

The Cybertruck you guys drove had all-terrain tires, which are rated for 318 miles of range. Additionally, your Cybertruck didn't have the aero wheel covers on, which increases range. Range is 340 miles with all-season tires. pic.twitter.com/xfaX0t0bA4

Acknowledging the mistake, Edmunds posted a Community Note on their article and updated the original report to reflect the correct information. “The Cybertruck tested was the Foundation Series on all-terrain tires, which is rated by Tesla as having 318-mile range. Our original article was based on the publicly-available range of 340 miles. The CT therefore actually exceeded its est. We have amended the original article,” the company stated.
