EcoG, a leading provider of charging systems for electric vehicles (EVs) based in Munich, Germany, has completed the acquisition of the Josev charger operating system from Switch EV, a London-based company specializing in EV charging solutions. The deal includes the acquisition of the Josev team and marks a strategic partnership between EcoG and Switch EV.

The acquisition allows EcoG to expand its offerings to include AC and commercial vehicle charging solutions, complementing its existing expertise in DC charging. EcoG will also assume full operational responsibility for the Josev team and its products, ensuring continued support for existing Josev customers, including ABB E-mobility, Alfen, Zaptec, Siemens, and iCharging.

Jörg Heuer, CEO of EcoG, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “The synergy between Switch EV and EcoG is based on both leadership teams’ decades of experience in electric vehicle charging. This collaboration not only expands our capabilities by adding AC and commercial chargers to our portfolio but also positions us as a leader in the transition to sustainable transportation.”

The timing of the acquisition is crucial, as Tesla recently scaled back its infrastructure business, creating a gap in the market for scalable and reliable charging solutions. EcoG views its partnership with Switch EV as critical to creating a seamless charging experience on a global scale, leveraging the integration of Switch’s cloud-based platform.

Marc Mültin, founder and CEO of Switch EV, emphasized the shared vision of the two companies, stating, “The partnership with EcoG allows us to expand our footprint and reach and realize the vision of a fully integrated charging solution (from electric vehicle to charger to backend) based on open standards – for all charger manufacturers and grid operators.”

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Earlier this year, EcoG opened its USA headquarters in Detroit, further expanding its global presence and commitment to advancing sustainable transportation solutions.
