A Dutch modification house named Derks Uitvaartmobiliteit recently succeeded in modifying a Tesla Model 3 electric car into a hearse.
The modified Tesla Model 3, called the Tesla Hearse 3, will be sold in the European market, featuring a larger body, lighting area for coffins and practical storage compartments while offering a range of up to 375 km.
As it was intended as a hearse, the Tesla Hearse 3 has a longer wheelbase than the standard Model 3, namely 5.56 m (218.9 inches), which is 866 mm (34.1 inches) longer than the standard Model 3 sedan.
The front end, front doors, mirror caps, lighting units and bumper are the only parts that were carried over from the Tesla Model 3, as all other parts were changed to better suit their roles. The roof was aerodynamically extended, turning the Model 3 into a large house with large glazing surfaces and a special tailgate.
On the interior, Derks added a partition wall with windows. There are also electric blinds on the side and rear windows for extra privacy. Derks Uitvaartmobiliteit also offers the option of extendable stainless steel flower shelves, and underfloor drawers.
Based on the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus, the hearse is equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 302 hp and a 53 kWh battery with a range of 491 km. However, with the extra weight and lower aerodynamics, the Tesla Hearse 3 may only have a range of 350-375 km.
