Indian EV leasing platform Drivn has signed an agreement with Tata Motors and SwitchLabs to deploy 150 electric heavy-duty trucks in India. The project will use an end-to-end truck-as-a-service model, with Drivn procuring the vehicles from Tata Motors and SwitchLabs operating the fleet.
The companies describe the agreement as the largest order for electric heavy-duty trucks in India. Drivn plans to expand the fleet to 1,000 electric trucks under the partnership over the next two years.
Three-Way Partnership Targets Fleet Electrification
Drivn, based in Gurugram, Haryana, partnered with Delhi-based SwitchLabs to provide electric truck-as-a-service solutions.
The three companies have signed a binding agreement covering the commissioning of all 150 electric trucks under a single project.
Drivn will finance and procure the vehicles from Tata Motors, while SwitchLabs will be responsible for fleet operations. The partners have not disclosed the value of the project or details about the routes and locations where the trucks will operate.
The truck models included in the 150-unit order have also not been announced.
Fleet Expansion Planned to 1,000 Trucks
Drivn intends to increase the fleet from the initial 150 vehicles to 1,000 electric trucks as the partnership develops.

Drivn Co-founder and Chief Business Officer Alpna Jain said the partnership combines Tata Motors’ market presence with vehicle maintenance, uptime support and technology for monitoring fleet efficiency.
Tata Motors Electric Truck Portfolio
Tata Motors currently offers two electric heavy-duty truck models in India: the Prima E.28K and Prima E.55S.
The Prima E.28K is a 28-tonne electric truck available as a 6×4 tipper. It uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing either 235 kW or 470 kW and is offered with 300 kWh or 450 kWh LFP battery packs.

Depending on configuration, the Prima E.28K has a driving range of 120 to 200 kilometres.
The Prima E.55S is a 55-tonne electric truck offered as a 4×2 tractor. It uses a 470 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor and is available with 300 kWh or 450 kWh battery packs.
The Prima E.55S can travel up to 350 kilometres on a single charge.
Tata Motors Targets Commercial EV Adoption
Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head – Trucks at Tata Motors, said the partnership is intended to make electric trucks more accessible to fleet operators.

Kaul said Tata Motors’ electric truck portfolio is designed around performance, reliability and operating economics while supporting customers transitioning to zero-emission technologies.
The 150-truck deployment will provide the partners with a larger operational base for electric heavy-duty vehicles, while the planned expansion to 1,000 units would significantly increase the scale of the fleet electrification program.
