Dongfeng Nissan, the Chinese joint venture of Japan’s Nissan, has incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) from DeepSeek into its upcoming N7 electric sedan, marking a rare move by a Japanese automaker in China.
The company announced on its WeChat account that the N7 is the first joint venture vehicle to integrate the DeepSeek-R1 deep reasoning model. “Through the powerful data processing and self-learning capabilities of the DeepSeek-R1 large model, the N7 is able to accurately recognize user intent and provide a more natural and smooth human-computer interaction experience,” Dongfeng Nissan stated.

The AI model enhances the car’s voice control, navigation, and entertainment features, enabling it to understand user preferences and offer personalized services. The N7, unveiled globally at the Guangzhou auto show last November, is also equipped with an advanced driver-assistance system developed with Chinese startup Momenta, which allows for NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) functionality on highways and city roads.
Last month, the N7 appeared in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) regulatory catalog, revealing dimensions of 4,930 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,487 mm in height, with a 2,915 mm wheelbase. The vehicle is powered by a 200 kW TZ200XS3JD motor from Dongfeng Motor.
